If you’re planning a cultural road trip from Prescott to Phoenix, traveling by RV is a convenient and enjoyable way to experience the journey and the city’s attractions. In this guide, we’ll cover planning an RV trip from Prescott to Phoenix, RV-friendly parking options near downtown Phoenix museums, and why FlexArmor roofing is a must for staying comfortable in Arizona’s ever-changing weather.
Planning an RV Trip from Prescott to Phoenix
The scenic drive from Prescott to Phoenix covers about 100 miles and typically takes around two hours. Here are a few tips to help you plan your cultural RV road trip:
1. Map Your Route and Plan Your Stops
From Prescott, you can take I-17 South to Phoenix, which offers stunning desert landscapes and convenient rest areas. Consider stopping along the way at Sunset Point Rest Area to stretch your legs and enjoy panoramic desert views. As you near Phoenix, you’ll have access to various attractions, from historic sites to outdoor parks, before reaching downtown.
2. Prepare Your RV for the Desert Drive
Before heading out, perform a routine check of your RV to ensure it’s ready for the road. Inspect your tires, check fluid levels, and make sure your air conditioning system is in good working order for the warm Phoenix temperatures. Don’t forget to inspect your RV roof for any signs of damage, cracks, or leaks. If you’ve invested in FlexArmor roofing, your RV will be well-prepared to handle both the drive and the weather changes along the way.
3. Create an Itinerary for Museum Visits
Once in Phoenix, plan your museum visits. The Heard Museum and Phoenix Art Museum are located relatively close to each other, making it easy to explore both in one day. Start with the Heard Museum to explore the rich history and contemporary work of Native American artists, followed by the Phoenix Art Museum to immerse yourself in its expansive collection of American, Latin American, and European art.

4. RV Parks Near Downtown Phoenix
If you’re planning an extended stay, consider nearby RV parks like Desert’s Edge RV Village or Covered Wagon RV Park, which provide easy access to downtown Phoenix. Once parked, you can use rideshare services or public transportation to reach the museums without worrying about RV parking in the city center.

Our Phoenix RV Roof Repairs Come Highly Recommended!

And the roof? Well... It looks great! I don't know why this isn't the industry standard.

Late December, that beautiful AlexArmor Roof SAVED our rig!!! We ran under an archway which would have peeled us open life a sardine can had it not been for that roof! The bathroom skylight and the MaxxAir fan were destroyed but the roof held!
In Jan 2023 we had the repair work done at AZ RV Roof in Prescott, AZ by Shawn and his crew! We could not be happier! They cut out the damaged areas, replaced the skylight and fan and resprayed the roof.
We highly recommend getting a FlexArmor Roof for the peace of mind and extra protection for your home on the road!!

The staff provided excellent customer service. The guys made some custom changes to our roof configuration (reduced the size of our bathroom skylight).
They kept us well informed during the process. We highly recommend this product and AZ RV Roof for your camper roof needs. Thanks John and crew!!

We had just finished building a new home and dealing with all the Covid related and supply chain related excuses for poor service and execution and were burned out! When we got in our truck after picking up our completed coach I looked at my wife and said, "wasn't that a breath of fresh air"! Do business with AZ RV Roof. Thier product is industry leading and thier customer service is unparalleled!

Job was done on time. Technicians know their job well.

We drove our 5th wheel from So. California to Prescott, AZ to have our flex armor -lifetime transferable guarantee- roof installed for nearly half the price of a rubber roof that carried only a 90 day warranty. John was extremely accommodating in fitting us in the schedule when we were delayed because of some COVID backups on other work we were having done to our rig. To top it off, our 6 year old original roof was so bad that they had to take an extra day to make all the necessary repairs - after squeezing us in! We highly recommend AZ RV Roof and the peace of mind they provide in not having to worry about our roof anymore. No more lap sealant checks!

Frequently Asked Phoenix RV Roof Repair Questions
What is the maintenance to an FlexArmor roof?
The only maintenance to this roof system is the topcoat. It is a polymer coating developed for our system and will last 10-15 years. If you see the grey roofing material coming through it is time for a new white topcoat. This is a product that can be applied by you or you can bring it back to a location for reapplication.
You do not have to caulk your roof or apply special cleaners or conditioners on the FlexArmor roof system.
How do I clean a FlexArmor roof?
You can use any kind of household cleaner you want. This roof system has an extremely high chemical resistance and is not effected by cleaners or bleach. It is designed to be self cleaning which means most everyday dust and dirt washes off when it rains. It is non porous so it resists many stains and mildew.
Do I need to caulk around my fixtures?
This roof system was designed to remove all the caulking joints and seams in an rv roof. You no longer have any exposed screws or joints to caulk. Our chemical bond removes the need for caulking.
